Introduction
Professor Eva Valsami-Jones of the University of Birmingham, U.K., presents on the transformation of laboratory research into practical environmental and sustainable solutions which have both societal and economic impact. A number of governmental programs supporting both environmental and sustainable technology solutions are highlighted including the European Green Deal (2019), Chemical Strategy for Sustainability (2020) and Horizon Europe. Professor Valsami-Jones also highlights a case study, the Analytical & Characterization Excellence in Nanomaterial Risk Assessment (ACEnano) program.
